Opera’s greatest hits, pop and musical theatre are given a DivaLicious musical make-over as these divas are let loose with comedy and innuendo.
We asked Penny and Fiona to nominate an opera-themed Top 5. The duo have ventured down a macabre path: top 5 bizarre opera deaths.
1. Wally
The aptly named Wally in Catalini's opera 'La Wally' gets swept to her death in an unseasonal avalanche. Surprisingly hard to recreate in the theatre.2. Don Giovanni
At the other end of the temperature spectrum, Don Giovanni gets dragged off to hell by the statue of one of his victims who has come back to haunt him.3. Tosca
Tosca legendarily flings herself off the battlements of the Castel Sant'Angelo hoping, as she falls, that the stagehands have not replaced the crash mat with a trampoline and that she will not be bouncing back up again.4. Fedora
Fedora kicks the bucket by drinking a poisoned cup of tea (probably made by her understudy!).5. Antonia
Antonia in 'The Tales Of Hoffmann' is warned by her doctor to stop singing or it will be the death of her. She doesn't... and it is!Nominated for Best Cabaret in Fringe World 2013, 2014 and 2015, DivaLicious - Opera Rocks!' plays at the Sydney Opera House 1-2 May.
