5 Adelaide Icons With Hans

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

For German-born wunderkind Hans, every new show must dwarf the previous: bigger sets, more sequins, more glamour. How does one top a Fringe season that contained a Vegas themed solo show and a collaboration with Adelaide TV royalty Willsy?

With 'Triple Treat', Hans brings back Willsy and adds a pioneer of Hans’ craft: Bob Downe. Their show at the Arts Theatre will harken back to the glory days of when South Australia had locally produced morning television; it will be AM Adelaide all over again, with possibly less telemarketing.

Before the show kicks off, Hans provides scenestr with his top 5 Adelaide icons.

Guy Sebastian

He was Australia's first Idol, he was Australia's first Eurovision contestant and he's an all round good boy. But the rest of Australia needs to remember- Adelaide loved him even before he was hot!!!

Sia Furler

Before she was the world's most famous singing wig, Sia cut her teeth playing in bands all around the pubs of Adelaide. Every now and then she slips back in to town and is spotted around the Central Markets or Ying Chow.

Poh Ling Yeow

Speaking of the Central Markets, MasterChef darling Poh Ling Yeow has just opened her JamFace stall there and it's as delicious as she is.

Mark Holden

Sure, he might be our very own embarrassing uncle that you only see at Christmas time, but every time Mark Holden's plane "touches down" in Adelaide, he knows he's home.

Anthony LaPaglia

Yep! THAT Anthony LaPaglia was born right here in Adelaide. What can I say, this city is a bloody star factory!!

'Triple Treat' plays at the Arts Theatre on 29-30 July.
