The Brisbane Writers Festival will celebrate some of the best Australian writing.
There's a mass amount of events occurring over the five days that the festival takes place over, so it's probably a good idea to make a list of the best ones.
We got Festival Director Julie Beveridge to compile a list of four top picks.
'Moral Compass'

While I didn’t come of age in 1982 what a magnificent time it would have been – watching Noni Hazlehurst swimming upside down naked in 'Monkey Grip', using all of the hairspray for that Flock of Seagulls front tail and that winking kangaroo I’ve heard so much about. There is so much of me that wants to know what Dave was up to then. How much was a chikko roll?

I’ve wanted to have a thinker in residence for a couple of years now and this year I have two! Professor Fred and Antonia Case will be infiltrating the festival for 5 days in various ways and engaging in a conversation to let us know what they discovered. Also, it’s the last event of the festival and by then I’m usually ready for a beer and a sit down, what better place than at the BWF bar!Brisbane Writers Festival takes place at the State Library of Queensland on 7-11 September.
