What do you do?
Organiser/ curator of Digs At Bigs (record fair) held at Biggies at Bertram in Adelaide.
Why do you do it?
Aside from my beautiful family and friends, music is my biggest passion. I love how it brings people together and that it can evoke powerful emotions and experiences. Digs At Bigs offers a chance for some of Adelaide's best vinyl DJs and collectors to share their knowledge and love of music with others. Win-win for everyone.
What do you love about the city you live in?
The community spirit and fierce SA loyalty. We're like the Aussie battler of capital cities and can hopefully maintain the balance of being a 'best-kept secret' but still attracting visitors and dollars. I grew up here and can't see myself leaving anytime soon.
Where did you go for your last holiday?
Down to Deep Creek to stay at a mate's shack for the weekend. Lots of wilderness walks, campfires and male bonding.
What's your favourite item of clothing?
My jeans, because they've reached that ideal phase of being comfortably worn-in while still looking reasonably new. I'd welcome any advice on how to prolong their lifespan.
What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid? (If you've got kids, what's your favourite show to watch with them?)
'Captain Planet' is a childhood fave; I can still vividly remember the theme song. Nowadays, I have an 18-month-old daughter and 'Play School' seems to be her #1, along with 'The Chase' game show... go figure!
If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Depending on the time of day, either a brekkie/ brunch fry-up or an Indian feast; curry aroma is high on my list of favourite food smells.
What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
Having my daughter has taught me to live in the present more and to worry less about the past and future. Watching her completely living in the moment has been an indescribably rich lesson, and my life's been better for it.
Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows…
I had to take an online quiz to answer the spirit animal question.
Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
I am more content now than I've ever been. A year ago I took leave from my teaching job to have more family time and more time for DJing. I work another part-time job to help pay bills and enjoy dad-daughter days on Fridays.
How do you define success?
Having a work-life balance that is personally fulfilling and right for the individual. Family and friends are my number one, followed by DJing and music. I've made some tough calls financially to make time to prioritise those aspects of my life. A wise man once told me that we don't spend money, we spend time. Makes sense when you think about it.
What's your spirit animal?
Something which is enthusiastically energetic and also calm and chill at other times… apparently it's the tiger according to the wisdom of the internet.
