What do you do?
Paint.

Why do you do it?
Images can be... a portal to the sublime!

What do you love about the city you live in?
New York is a robust starting point to discovering what America and Americans are really all about, with their dreams and drive.

Where did you go for your last holiday?
Shanghai.

What's your favourite item of clothing?
I have an '80s-style Adidas slicker I bought in a vintage store in Berlin and it reminds me of the French guys who let me be their friend even though it meant speaking English. It also reminds me of the movie 'La Haine', and when I wear the jacket - as cringeworthy as this is - I feel a little tougher, and it does a job soothing discontent. It's red, blue and white like the French flag, baggy with dropped armpits, cotton lining, perfect with black tee and good kicks on an autumn evening.

What was your favourite TV show when you were a kid?
'Plasmo'. So poignant. Biting comedy scenes between too. Watch on YouTube now.

If you could travel back in time for a day, where would you go?
To pre-Neanderthal days to see what, if any, behaviours are similar to the present. I bet cavemen told the best dirty jokes. Their food would be worth tasting too.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us?
Mussels are a pretty good crowd pleaser because they're not too adventurous but have a ton of taste, a bit of class and are cheap to make. Tomato base can be good (onions, garlic, cayenne, chilli) but dressed simply in their own perspiration with a dash of lemon and chives kills too.

What's the best lesson you've ever learned?
How to bounce an AFL football and via that the importance of making an effort to fit in.

Tell us one thing about yourself that nobody else knows…
In prep, it was nearly the end of the school day and I was busting to piss and I pissed my pants while sitting cross legged. Everyone left and only one kid saw. He told the teacher but no one else. My school life probably would have been drastically different if I'd been known as a pant-pisser. Thank you A.D. for your five-year old discretion!

Are you happy with your work/ life balance?
Could always work harder. Could always have more fun.

How do you define success?
Doing the above two, plus being as generous as possible.

What's your spirit animal?
Badger.
