Update - 18 April: Aussie rockers, Grinspoon have sparked a ticketing frenzy, selling out Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Brisbane’s Tivoli Theatre, Melbourne’s Village Green Hotel, Tasmania’s Granada Tavern, WA’s Dunsborough Tavern, Newcastle’s The Cambridge Hotel, Redland Bay’s Redland Bay Hotel, Wollongong’s Waves, Ipswich’s Racecourse Hotel and Bateau Bay’s Entrance Leagues Club within hours of going on sale to the general public.
Do you remember what you were doing 20 years ago? Revelling in the glory of the '90s? Navigating your awkward teen years? Listening to Grinspoon? If you were, you can rest assured you weren't alone. On any of the above.
To keep up with the demand, the boys have added five new shows to their monster Guide To Better Living 20th Anniversary tour, with second shows hitting Enmore Theatre on Thursday July 6, The Tivoli on Sunday July 9 and Granada Tavern on Sunday August 6. To add to the excitement, two new shows have been announced for Barooga and Newcastle fans, with the tour now swinging via Barooga Sports Club (NSW) on Thursday September 21 and NEX Newcastle on Saturday September 23.
But especially the listening to Grinspoon.
Grinspoon first hit our airwaves back in 1995 when they submitted 'Sickfest' to triple j's national band competition 'Unearthed', and won. For the next two months they were the number one requested song, and by the time they released their debut album 'Guide To Better Living' they had firmly cemented their place as a favourite for disenfranchised youth.
Going double platinum, the album spent 36 weeks in the ARIA top 50. Since then, they've made seven records, sold half a million albums and played over 1,000 shows.
Now 20 years later, they are celebrating by getting the band back together, and touring a massive 27 dates across the country in a show that will see them play the 'Guide To Better Living' album end to end.
Want to indulge your nostalgia and rock out to some familiar and unforgettable old tunes? “I hate nostalgia, it gets my goat.” Phil Jamieson says. “What I do love are tunes, and we've got tunes”.
