Serving as somewhat of a college reunion, five friends are brought back together for Jess's (Scarlett Johansson) bachelorette party in Miami. Planned for the most part by Alice (Jillian Bell), the gang head to a luxurious beach house where they meet sexually charged neighbours Pietro (Ty Burrell) and Lea (Demi Moore)... But things only get weirder from there.
What ensues is the consumption of illegal substances, a death and a visit from some shady gangsters looking for diamonds.
It's a simple, fun film filled with 'oh my god' moments and a hilarious cast that make it an enjoyable ride. Kate McKinnon as Jess's Australian friend Pippa is hysterical and the stand-out cast member in my opinion. Her wide eyes and overreactions to practically everything had the packed cinema in stitches.
Ilana Glazer, Zoe Kravitz and Jillian Bell round out the girl group as Frankie, Blair and Alice respectively. Each of their connections with Jess seem genuine on screen which makes for an easy watch as they try to cover up the huge mistakes they've made throughout the crazy evening.
'Rough Night' isn't a theatrical masterpiece or a modern classic, but it's not trying to be. See this film if you want a night out with friends at the movies and an excuse to laugh at the misfortunes of others.
